False Admission of Guilt by Computer Analyst
Analyst uses computer knowledge to learn details of Ice Truck Killings; admits to murders as publicity stunt.
August 8, 2006 Neil Perry, who recently confessed to being the Ice Truck Killer, has admitted that he is not in fact the infamous serial killer. He admitted to kidnapping a prostitute in a fake attempt to kill her in order to get the attention of the police. A skilled computer analyst and hacker, he also used illegally obtained photographs and information to learn confidential details about the case to prove himself as the killer.
Due to his confession, the department wrongly announced Perry as the Ice Truck Killer. However, recent DNA evidence from another crime scene in addition to further interrogation revealed that the real Ice Truck Killer is still at large. The department fully retracts its earlier statement, apologizing for its mistake. A Haitian-American rising star in the field of law

Perry's main motive behind this false admission was an apparent desire for fame.
