In Honor of Detective Harry Morgan
July 12th, 2006 Today marks the 4th anniversary of the death of Detective Harrison Morgan, a hero and one of the most respected officers in service. Detective Morgan was an honorable and humble man, always supporting and putting his fellow officers before himself. He was as kind hearted as he was hardworking, and his legacy lives on today, even after his death. His daughter, Debra Morgan, is currently an officer in the department and his adopted son, Dexter Morgan, works as a blood spatter analyst.

Miami Metro K-9 Passes; Replacement has High Expectations
January 16, 2006 Orthus certainly lived up to the meaning of his name- the Greek myth of Orthus includes a two-headed hound that faithfully protects the herd of red cattle that belongs to his master. For the past six years, Officer K287 has guarded the Miami International Airport (MIA) with his partner, Sergeant Dave Kilkuts. Orthus had a special nose for explosives, which is why Miami Metro PD assigned him to the city's most popular site of transportation.
Orthus was euthanized, as he was suffering from cancerous tumors that resulted from inflammatory bowel disease. The

eight year old German Shepherd had quite the personality, being featured on Airport 24/7: Miami on the Travel Channel. He will be missed by the youth and the community of metropolitan Miami, but most of all, by his partner.
Sergeant Dave Kilkuts is currently training partner-to-be Brutus, a Belgian Malinous. Miami Metro's Officer K301 has proved to be promising in his early training exercises, but he has quite large paw prints to fill.
When interviewed by NBC6 News regarding the death of Orthus, Kilkuts said "He was the best partner I've ever had. Its hard to know whether even a human officer could impress me as much as Orthus did day after day."
Hopefully Brutus can prove to be a loyal companion and officer despite Shakespeare's interpretation of his own name.
